Momentum was founded in 1966. The company adopted the name Momentum in 1973 following the acquisition of Momentum Assurance Corporation, facilitated by a series of strategic mergers and acquisitions. In December 2010, Momentum Group Limited was created through the merger of Metropolitan Holdings and Momentum Group, positioning it as the third-largest life insurer in South Africa. This status was further solidified by the acquisition of Guardrisk, which strengthened Momentum Group Limited’s position as a prominent client engagement platform.
